I received my AA from East Los Angeles College and my BA from California State University, Los Angeles. I spent 13 years in sales and sales management, distributing video movies for Hollywood. I spent 12 years as a small business owner. Opening my first video store in Pacific Palisades in 1981. My most memorable customer in my last business was Oprah Winfrey and her entire entourage who visited my gas station/convenience store/towing service in California’s Mojave Desert on Memorial Day 2006.

I returned to Orange County in 2007 to be closer to my three children and ten grandchildren. I am presently VP of Marking & Development for Ladera Education Institute. I spend much of my free time on education based non-profit activities in South Los Angeles and serve on the board of the Mount Carmel Alumni Foundation as well as Neighborhood Youth Achievers in Watts. I am the founder of The Future Doc Project. The FDP worked through the Corporate Work-Study Program at Verbum Dei High School in Watts finding meaningful health services jobs in hospitals and clinics for students to gain practical experience as well as inspiration and motivation to study math & science. I am the founder and Co-Chairman of the Change...for Change Campaign. The CCC is a collaborative effort between ten suburban Catholic high schools whose students raised money to fund Carson Scholars Fund reading rooms for inner-city elementary schools. I am the co-founder of the Grace Hopper STEM Academy adjacent to deanery 16’s St. Mary’s Academy, the oldest all-girl college prep school in Los Angeles established in 1889. SMA still sends 99% of their students off to college every year.
